Mcfarlane Spider-man vs Hasbro Mcfarlane Reboot in Identify Help by emmavee
Wednesday, December 18, 2013
   [Edit]
Im curious to know if there is any significant difference between the two figurines. the mcfarlane spider-man released in 2004 and also 2005 was toy biz made in the classic satin red and blue finish. while the hasbro mcfarlane reboot was recasted and released four years later in 2008 but sporting a lower quality gloss red and black finish. personally I'm a fan of either color scheme on the mcfarlane/campbell figure. I've searched and really haven't found out too much information that separates the two besides the fact that toy biz was the original cast while hasbro was the recasted version, and the differences in color. but is there really a difference that sets them apart from each other? is the recast a spitting image of the original? is ...[See More]

You've probably found the answer to your question long ago, but on the off chance you didn't, I have both figures. Both are identical as far as sculpt and articulation goes, although I feel like the pectoral joints of the hasbro moved smoother than the toy biz , but the toy biz could arch back farther with his ab crunch. Other than that, and the difference in paint apps, they're identical.

So I hope someone can help, I'm trying to find some figures I had when I was a kid. Let me explain first why this is so important. When I was 3 I was very ill and was bed ridden for about 3 months. Within that time an uncle who shortly thereafter was murdered gave me the 2 figures which I always carried with me. Then when I was in second grade a bully ended up breaking both figures (I mean smashing them to pieces) and I never saw them again. Now the toys were already used when I got them in 1987 so they could be from late 1970s or up to 1987. Let me describe them.

The first figure was a 2 to 3 inch Native American, he had at least 7 points of articulation, the head turned left and right each shoulder up and down, legs at waist up and down,...[See More]

Did the Native American figure have a rubber band holding together his waist joint?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I buy a lot of secondhand toys from thrift stores and I sometimes find myself imaging scenarios as to how they got their individual dings and scratches in the other "life" that the items had with their previous owner(s).

That was a fun read, I'd probably buy some of those myself too, there's something about damaged action figures.......... Like each bite mark, stain etc.etc. tells the story of that toys life
Anybody recognize this Superman figure? in Identify Help by Patraw

Amongst other toys, I picked up a couple of Supermen at one of the local thrift stores Saturday, a JLU one, and this one. He's made by Mattel, dated 2012 (so he should be a recent release), and stands six inches high. I can't recall seeing him on the pegs at the stores, and I spent some time looking on Google and eBay, but I can't find a single image of him. Basically, I'd like to know what series/wave he's from, and any other information you might know about him.

It took a long time, but I finally figured out what he is! This Supes is from the Batman Power Attack line (which explains why I wasn't having any luck doing Superman searches). I believe it's the version that comes in the boxed set with Killer Croc and Batman, which, as it turns out, I actually have seen in the stores, but it never registered in my brain.
Need help with finding a toy run in Identify Help by pock63
Sunday, November 10, 2013
   [Edit]
I remember hearing about and seeing figures from an old vintage toy run but can't seem to recall it's name. I don't really remember what these guys look like but what I remember is that they were made so that if they were facing the tv when the theme song of the show they were made to go with is playing they would react and light up(and maybe do other things to). As far as I know this was the only toyrun that would do this so even though that description is rather vague hopefully one of you will be able to identify the toy run ...[See More]

I'm curios what some toy runs are that you guys know of that I might not even have heard of. Back in the golden age of action figures a lot of pretty cool toys got lost in the flow. I started thinking about this after reconnecting with my love for the food fighter toy run, I forgot how cool those guys were!!! They were a funky idea and had a tone of detail in the sculpts(although the paint was a bit lacking)...[See More]

Man-Tech Robot Warriors (by Remco, I think) from mid 80s were awesome. They were cyborg type guys with completely interchangeable body parts and weapons. I had Aqua-Tech and Doom-Tech, and my younger brother had Solar-Tech. There were three good guys, three villains, some vehicles, and a play set. In retrospect, they're not the most amazing toys or anything, but I always enjoyed them.

I also agree that Sectaurs were awesome. I only had a loose General Spidrax when I was a kid, and, somehow or another, a couple of wingless (those things were brittle!) glow-in-the-dark firefly mini bugs (the one that came with Night Fighter Dargon).

Sectaurs, those were some awesome figures, ball jointed hips and shoulders and the insects were awesome, especially the glove ones.
Unidentified tentacle monster in Identify Help by Patraw

Anybody know who or what this is? It's yet another mystery figure that I got in a big bag of toys from one of the local thrift stores. I've done a number of Google image searches with phrases like "tentacle toy", but, I haven't had any luck (and I'm quite tired of getting tentacle porn results). It's an unarticulated mini figure that stands about 2-3/8" (6 cm) tall. There's no manufacturer copyright date molded on it, so I don't know who made it or when. At first, I thought it must be a Pokemon, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I strongly suspect that it's a character from a similar video game or anime though. Digimon, Ben10, etc?...[See More]

As I am won't to do, I picked up a big bag of girls toys from a thrift store on Friday. I've been able to identify most of the items on my own, but there are several that still have me scratching my head, and I was hoping perhaps one of you could help. I realize most of you probably don't buy girls toys, but perhaps a sister/cousin/daughter/etc. had them.

Anybody know what the larger doll on the far left is? She was made by Mattel in 2008 and is about 7-8 inches tall (depending on whether or not you're counting her hair or not). You can't see it in the photo, but there's a rubbery transparent plastic rod projecting out of her back, that...[See More]

That's a cool idea, but I don't have, or want, a Facebook account, so I don't think I can participate without being registered. By the way, that orange creature you can't identify in the photo on said Facebook page is from Scooby Doo, it's the 10,000 Volt Ghost.

Okay, I finally figured out what that first doll is: She's a Barbie Blooming Thumbelina (African American version). I was also correct that she's missing her wings (maybe I'll make her some...) She originally came with this huge flower base thing that would "bloom" with a push of a button, revealing the doll.

And the woman in pink and yellow is Lila, from Polly Pocket. She's supposed to come with a wind surfer vehicle and some stickers.

Still no luck on figuring out what that rabbit is though...
