Painting rubber capes

Posted in Custom Workstation

What do you use when painting those rubbery, flexible capes? The acrylic paint I apply always cracks and bubbles when the cape bends.

I wash the cape with soap and water, properly dry, prime it with Duplicolor vinyl and fabric spray and then paint in thin coats. If you think you are going to be bending the cape at all, I recommend using Parma Faskolar paint. It's a little more expensive and goes on better with an airbrush but its very durable and slightly flexible.
