Unknown Venom

I won this figure as part of a job lot. Obviously it's a movie Venom but he stands just over 8 inches tall which makes him out of scale to all other figures but features all the usual ML style articulation. Just wondering if anybody knows if he belongs to a series or any other history behind him.
