Warbow (Marvel Legends - Infinite Series) Review
Warbow
Marvel Legends - Infinite Series (Hasbro)Lightning has struck twice!
I knew Marvel Legends was leaning into the obscurities lately- Death's Head, Frog, Sleepwalker- but new Saga of Crystar merchandise was a real surprise. I suppose a retool was in order (where else are they gonna reuse those molds?), and this one made the most sense.
Captain Warbow is obviously a crossbowman- and, in fact, the reason the evil wizard Zardeth only has one eye. Warbow lost his a moment later, because Zardeth is petty. Dude's also got a crush on Crystar's gal. Poor guy can't catch a break.
At least he gets a few new parts. The head is new, obviously, and looks quite nice with the strong jaw and unusual eyepatch- more of a sling, really. The belt is simpler this time around, and the hands are bare. A bandolier (or perhaps sash, since they look nothing like his crossbow bolts) mostly hides the sunburst on his chest, making him look fairly distinct.
The clothing is just the right shade of green, and the body likewise. Not a stunning contrast, but very cohesive. The eye is easier to spot here than on Crystar. Articulation is just as good as last time, but I haven't found a lot of good two-handed poses with the crossbow yet, at least pointed forward.
Said crossbow is his only actual accessory, cast in the same color as his body, with an opaque arrow. It looks great, and is flexible enough to prevent breakage without suffering any warping. My only real complaint is that the brace extending from the stock keeps the elbow from a full bend. It's only a problem in a couple poses, though. Otherwise, he gets two holding hands, a right fist, and an open left.
Also present the right arm of Executioner, along with an open hand and holding hand.
Warbow is an obvious choice for a second foray: as the only non-swordsman in the main cast, anyone else might have felt like a repeat. And probably needed more extensive retooling. Speaking of, Ogeode and Zardeth can get away with fairly simple base bodies and a bit of clothing. Just saying.
