Geocron (Infernac Universe) Transformers - Legacy - United (Hasbro)Haha, geological cycle. I wasn't into the Infernac figures when they started out- and, frankly, they didn't grow on me much. This was a cheap impulse buy, though, so here we are. Starting with 'bot mode as packaged, we have a pretty decent little rock duder. The smattering of robot bits among the stone are mostly a metallic purple, while the upper limbs, wheels, collar and "tail" are a somewhat darker, more metallic brown. The head is a delightfully simple rock face, like a minimalist Jack o' Lantern sculpture come to life. Or an animation cel, since it's based directly on a rock monster from the Headmasters series. Apart from the backpack, kibble is limited to some Arcee-esque shin wheels. Said backpack is my main gripe here. The front wheel fork (and half the cowling) hang off quite a ways (forgiveable at this scale, but still unfortunate), but then there's a greebly rod hanging straight down to the ankles. It can aid balance in deep poses, though. Speaking of, articulation! We got ball joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. The swivel waist is welcome, but the neck can't look up, which I guess means they'll forever be squaring off against the Minibots. A comically meaty sword with a massive basket can be wielded in either hand. Transformation is simple yet satisfying, although the tabs on the weapon can be fiddly. We don't often get trikes, and this one's pure Rock Lords: an irregular hunk of rough stone, crudely chipped into shape and decorated with model parts. Put this next to the Stone Wing and you can see the lineage. There's no real room for a rider, even with the blade flipped forward, but for what it's worth, the Wheelie that came with Grimlock actually looks great on there. While the colors this time aren't a direct match to any actual Rock Lords, the new head is what got me to bite. See, the cars and chopper more or less look like actual vehicles with custom body work, while this is a rough vein of minerals with vehicle parts just jammed in there. The face is a face- the entirety of Rock Lords included one visor and zero faceplates, while Infernac is lousy with both. As the purest homage available, Geocron wins the prize of "toy budget for this paycheck". And just for kicks, in honor of the old Rock Lords file cards (and since this character has no real bio info), I'm declaring that Geocron is composed of calcite and amethyst, and is a daredevil with a talent for swordplay. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
