Mr. Satan (Hercule) Dragon Ball Z - S.H. Figuarts (Bandai)I've always been drawn to the underpowered (or non-combatant) side characters that nevertheless have very important roles to play. In the DBZ universe, even the awesomely-named Hercule Satan, the World Martial Arts Champion, is primarily comic relief. But he's still, unironically, one of my favorite characters in the series. Does that justify what I spent here? Probably. For starters, this is Figuarts. It's already coming with a hell of a pedigree, and doesn't disappoint. For the uninitiated, this generally means articulation out the wazoo, plenty of extra hands and heads/faces, and a few accessories to boot. Trying to list all the joints would be tedious, but it's a couple notches above Marvel Legends. The legs are slightly restricted by the poofy pants, but otherwise everything has great range. That said, the elbow caps tend to fall off a lot. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. Speaking thus, the whole torso on mine had some frosting, possibly from paint or adhesive fumes. It wipes right off with a damp cloth, though. As for option parts, there are 4 faces: determined, triumphant, enraged, and terrified. All four are pretty common for him, and go a long way toward enhancing his display value. For hands, we get fists, open hands, martial arts poses, a pointing left, and a thumbs-up right. Again, perfectly in character. In terms of actual accessories, the black belt can be swapped for either of two title belts. Bee the Dog (who holds a third-degree belt in Being a Good Boy) is an unarticulated piece, but perfectly captures the animation style. Hell, they even threw in a plug for the hole in his back, in case you're not using a figure stand. Bottom line? This is a plenty solid Figuarts release, and the best toy this guy's ever going to get. And besides, for a guy that can take out two gunmen at close range, has legit saved the world twice, and famously keeps the press out of the Z-fighters' hair, he deserves some respect. And a place on your shelf. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
