Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark) Indiana Jones - Adventure Series (Hasbro)Indiana Jones doesn't see a lot of merchandise so I greatly anticipating the Adventure series from Hasbro. Sadly the line has run it's course leaving notable gaps in the line. You won't find Willie Scott, Mola Ram, Lao Che, Dietrich, Vogel, or other notable faces here. Crystal Skull was ignored entirely. Fortunately fans are seeing fit to customize their own. Despite the omissions, the Adventure Series does have a number of great offerings so I thought I'd take a look back at the figures we have had. To that end there is no better place to start than with Indy from Raiders who is the centerpiece figure of the line. The packaging itself is nicely rendered with some great art on all sides of the box. The fact he is boxed is somewhat controversial among some collector's, and while I would appreciate a window box, I do appreciate that they can be stored in the box again versus a blister pack. Being the central figure of the range Indy comes with more accessories than other figures in the line. He comes with two alternate sets of hands, a revolver, satchel, two whips (coiled & uncoiled), the fertility idol, and the two winged cherubs for the Ark Build an Artifact. Indy features a pretty decent sculpt and likeness for the price. He lacks an ab crunch but the tradeoff is that he has less noticeable joints. Hasbro for all their faults I feel should be commended for going the extra bit of distance to add some weathering to his jacket, hat and pants. They seem to have used the same face printing that can be found on the Marvel Legends figures and it does render a decent likeness to Ford. Even my 1/6 scale sideshow Indy has a dubious likeness. Indy features a butterfly shoulder joint and also has a thigh swivel which is nice if you want to try and put him on a horse (like the Figma horse). He has enough range of motion to put him in some great action poses. So where does the figure fall short? Well the face was pretty glossy. I recently picked up another and his face looked more matte. So maybe they changed that for another run? The whip is just ok. The whip that he comes with is hard to really pose and I wish it had some wire to make it easier to pose. The coiled whip again is ok, but both the coiled whip and the uncoiled whip could have been a darker brown. If you want to customize a wash will make them look much better in my opinion. There is one glaring flaw with this figure however and it is Indy's belt. The strap they try to use to hang his whip just doesn't work and is too fiddly. Otherwise Indy is a great figure. If you just want one nice figure? The Hasbro figure is an easier recommendation than the Figma Indy. The SHF Figurarts Indy is also excellent but costs more. If however you want a range of figures from the various films? The adventure series has a decent offering even with some of the notable omissions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
