Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie Reviews
Tatsu
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - Basic Series
Rated 4.90 stars by RMaster007
The NECA TMNT movie line has become a slow burn as of late, as they've been going through all the key characters at a steady rate. The main cast of the first movie has been made into figures, with the exception of Tatsu. There were many requests for Shredder's second-in-command, but supposed issues in securing the actor's likeness prevented it. Eventually, NECA was able to sort things out, and at long last, he's joined the line. Unlike the two-packs, the single-packed movie figures have made use of some unique packaging art, and Tatsu's has a sketchy red motif, with his portrait on the front. Out of all the movie Ultimates, this one is the best one, with a more menacing-looking box that stands out from the rest of the singles. There's only a single tie in the tray, thankfully, and...[See More]
Keno (Foot Training) / Foot Soldier
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - Secret of the Ooze
Rated 4.55 stars by RMaster007
NECA may have been going all out with TMNT figures as they relate to the original cartoon (and soon, the 2012 one) and comics, but the New Line movies they've been handling at a slower pace. There's only so much they can do from those films now that they've gotten through the major players, including the long-awaited Tatsu, but I assume they still have some plans for the first two movies before moving onto the third film. Last year gave us Keno from Secret of the Ooze, albeit as a SDCC exclusive, whereas Walmart got a "Foot Training" version. This look for Keno is a specific one, coming from when he infiltrates the Foot Clan with Raphael's assistance, and has to engage in combat to prove his worth. Trevor Grove, one of NECA's best when it comes to real-life people, provided the portraits...[See More]
Raphael (In Disguise)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - 1:4 Scale

I love these 1/4 figures. Though I do have the smaller scale figures, I feel the detail on these are just amazing....[See More]
Professor Perry 2-Pack
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - Secret of the Ooze
Rated 4.85 stars by RMaster007
NECA seems to have almost run out of characters from the first two TMNT films, or at least the ones everyone wants. They've done enough to satisfy fans, though, with the latest Secret of the Ooze release being not one, but two versions of Professor Jordan Perry in a single two-pack. I guess they really like him over there. Unlike most movie figures, this set is a much-easier-to-get NECA Store exclusive rather than a Walmart one, and is still available as of this writing. One of the Perrys comes wearing a TGRI lab coat, with a square-patterned shirt and brown suspenders, and the straps are sculpted onto the torso separate from the waist. The other Perry wears an orange jumpsuit, also TGRI-branded, but has that same shirt underneath it. There is quite a bit of shared tooling between both...[See More]
TMNT III Samurai 4-Pack
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - Exclusives
Rated 4.80 stars by RMaster007
After doing plenty of figures from the first two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies, it was inevitable NECA do the third movie next. Granted, it's considered the weakest of the New Line trilogy, and I agree, but I'd be lying if I didn't say it was a guilty pleasure. I was more than happy to hear the "samurai" turtles would be getting a four-pack, and I made sure to pre-order mine from NECA directly once the chance arrived. The packaging is much like the past movie four-packs, recreating the VHS box art with the included figures. That part's a slip cover over the open-window box underneath, and it gives you a good view of what's inside, along with neat interior art and plenty of photos on the back of both it and the cover. There's a bit of tape and plastic strips to remove, but it's all...[See More]
Ultimate Shredder
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - Secret of the Ooze
Rated 4.85 stars by RMaster007
As much as love NECA's movie Turtles (but not as much as the toon line), some of my more desired releases were impossible to find. That April/Casey two-pack I reviewed not too long ago? I never saw it in-store, and it took me until this earlier this month to get it from a toy seller for cheap. Secret of the Ooze Shredder proved impossible to find as well, until recently, where I finally found him at Walmart. The box was pretty beat up, but hey, better than nothing. The graphic on the front of the box is simple but effective. The shot of Shredder obscured by shadows serves to remind us that he's a force to be reckoned with, and the rest of the box has some nice shots of the figure. There's also only one plastic tie holding in the figure, thank God! In Secret of the Ooze, Shredder was...[See More]
Casey Jones / April O'Neil
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - Basic Series
Rated 4.65 stars by RMaster007
As we all know, NECA's been doing Secret of the Ooze figures for a while now, and has put out a couple awesome figures, but the first Turtle movie still has some material left in it, such as this two-pack of April O'Neil and Casey Jones from when our heroes had to retreat to the countryside following a Foot clan attack. The only other first movie figure confirmed right now is an original idea: April in a yellow jumpsuit with an in-scale arcade cabinet. I love creative ideas and all, but there's still other characters that can be taken from the film. Charles Pennington, Chief Sterns, a better version of Danny, Sam Rockwell, Tatsu (if his actor's okay with it)… but I'm not here to talk about what could happen. This set has a whopping four sculptors credited behind it: Adrienne Smith,...[See More]
Accessory Pack
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - Secret of the Ooze
Rated 4.90 stars by RMaster007
If there's one thing that makes action figures more fun, it's accessories, and lots of 'em. NECA has put out a couple accessory sets recently, including a follow-up to their TMNT movie accessory set from '21. Covering its sequel, Secret of the Ooze, this set was also a NECA Store-exclusive preorder early last year, so unless you jumped on that, eBay is your best bet for it now. The packaging isn't much different from the first accessory set, being a simple windowless box with photos of everything included on the sides and back. It's not much, but it does the job. On the inside, everything is secured in a plastic tray, no plastic ties or anything, making it all easy to remove and replace. Kicking things off are extra heads for each of the four turtles. Leonardo gets a stern look,...[See More]
4-Pack
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - Secret of the Ooze
Rated 4.95 stars by RMaster007
Go ninja go ninja go! It's been over 30 years since Secret of the Ooze hit theaters, and it served as a pretty fun follow-up to the original TMNT movie. To celebrate its belated anniversary, NECA finally did the four turtles from it, and while they've been hitting Walmarts as two-packs for a good amount of time, they first showed up as a four-pack pre-order exclusively through the NECA Store, showing up last month. I'm glad I went that route, cause I can't find the two-packs to save my life. The box, unlike most four packs, is tall rather than long and bears a nice recreation of the original VHS' cover on the front using the figures. That's actually on a slip cover that can be removed to reveal a window box inside. There's only one plastic tie each for the turtles, and most of the...[See More]
Splinter / Shredder
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 Movie (Neca) - Exclusives
Rated 4.75 stars by RMaster007
The rivalry of Oroku Saki and Hamato Yoshi; one died, the other became the leader of a ninja clan known as the Foot, known as the Shredder. What he didn't know was that his slain rival's pet, Splinter, was exposed to mutagen and seeks to avenge his master. It's only fitting that these two would be packed together when the movie line moved from GameStop to Walmart, and while I never saw one when they first came out, they're now all over the place. I was at a local store yesterday and saw SIXTEEN of them! Crazy, right? The packaging's basically what I described when I reviewed the other movie figures, so let's move onto the figures themselves. The Splinter puppet used the the film had fur like a real rat would, and the sculptor(s) did a good job translating that look in plastic. The...[See More]
