RMaster007Jakks Pacific's Simpsons line has been keeping a steady but surprisingly quick pace when it comes to releases. We've gotten wave 3 around the start of the year, wave four is showing up now, and more products are on the way, including a cool Funzo recreation. I already went over the first three waves of 5" figures, including the premium figures and the Walmart-exclusive Bartman, but why am I just now getting to the second 2.5" wave? Because I haven't been able to complete it.
Wave 2 had a bit of a Krusty theme, with Krusty himself, another Bart, Sideshow Bob, Itchy, and Scratchy. The cat and mouse pair has proven very hard to find, even with Five Below getting the wave in stock, but at least through them I was able to get Bob. I was going to wait until I completed the wave to review it,...[

RMaster007It's already been a year since Jakks Pacific first revealed they got the Simpsons license, and they've been treating it very well. Figures have been coming out at a quick rate as well, with wave three having come out in this past January if I'm not mistaken. I haven't had much luck finding it at Target or Walmart, but I went to GameStop not too long ago and to my surprise, they had the whole 5" wave. Up until recently, they only had the Premium figures and electronic items, so it's great they're getting in more product now.
The MVP of this wave is Marge, completing the core family. We already got her in the 2.5" line, so making that sculpt twice as big presumably wasn't too hard, and she turned out the best of the main five in my opinion. Although she has the same blank happy stare as...[

Krusty Burger DioramaSimpsons (Jakks Pacific) - Dioramas

RMaster007It's always nice to get little playsets for your figures, since it adds more to a display. Jakks Pacific has done a couple of playsets over the years, and nowadays they're doing them for their smaller-scale lines, which is good for those wanting to save on space (and money). The Simpsons line already got a diorama of the family's home, and recently they put out Krusty Burger. If you're looking for it, I'd check GameStop and Macy's rather than Target or Walmart, since those are where the newer stuff has been popping up first.
This diorama, like the earlier Simpsons' home, consists of a base and two walls, one long and one short. The roof is present on the longer wall, and the sign plugs into it. Said sign utilizes a sticker, as does the window, with silhouettes of Chief Wiggum and Lou...[

RMaster007Jakks Pacific's Simpsons line only hit stores back in the summer, and already we have plenty of figures and products. The second wave of 5" figures came out last month or so, and they've been slowly but surely hitting major retailers. One of the figures in the wave, Homer, is just a restock from the previous wave, but the other three are new: Lisa Simpson, Krusty the Clown, and Moe Szyslak.
First up is Lisa, another instance of a character nearly getting a Super7 figure only for it to be cancelled and Jakks do them instead. She also already received a smaller-scale figure before this larger counterpart, but the 5" scale version looks a little off. The face appears a little wider than it should be, and like Homer, it was a pretty rough transition. I assume most fans won't have as much of...[

Furious HomerSimpsons (Jakks Pacific) - Premium

RMaster007If there's one thing Jakks Pacific can be praised for with their Simpsons line, it's prioritizing major characters in standard outfits over variants. Super7 went too heavy with variants for the Simpson family, not doing any in their standard clothes, not even in ReAction form, and lost the license before they could. In contrast, Jakks only put out three character variants: Bartman, coming shortly after the regular Bart, Vampire Burns, with the confirmation via Amazon that a regular version is in the works, and "Furious" Homer, coming from Season 13's "I Am Furious (Yellow)."
As the name of the figure suggests, Homer's pent-up rage has been unleashed, screaming his head off. The head here is much more expressive than the blank stare the regular version had, with lowered brow, slight...[

BartmanSimpsons (Jakks Pacific) - Basic Series

RMaster007Jakks Pacific's Simpsons line has had a pretty good start, with well-crafted figures in two different scales, containing a nice variety of characters right out the gate, and more. The show itself has been home to a variety of outfits and unique appearances for its cast, just look at how much Homers and Barts Playmates did. Super7 jumped right to variants and deep-cuts, and it ultimately cost them the license, but Jakks has done a good balance of regular versions and variants. Case in point, we already have a Bart variant in Bartman. Sure, Super7 put out one earlier this year, but did they ever making a regular Bart? Nope, so Jakks gets the advantage.
Bart's Bartman disguise solely consists of him putting a purple mask and cape on him, which isn't surprising given that he came up with it...[

Radioactive ManSimpsons (Jakks Pacific) - Premium

RMaster007Despite his status as a famous comic superhero in the Simpsons universe, Radioactive Man has gotten surprisingly little merchandise. He's at least gotten a plush, a Kidrobot figure, a Bearbrick, a Funko POP, and two figures of resident Schwarzenegger expy Rainer Wolfcastle dressed as him. Earlier this year, Super7 gave him his first true action figure that isn't Wolfcastle, but it turned out pretty bad. Thankfully, Jakks Pacific has come along with something both better and cheaper.
Setting him apart slightly from Matt Groening's usual style is the slightly more realistic proportions of RM's face. The eyes and nose are a little smaller than average, but that's pretty much it. The little bumps on the sides of his head are supposed to be his ears, and I'm not sure how well he can hear with...[

RMaster007When The Simpsons premiered on TV, it marked a significant turning in animated series, proving that they could be made for adults instead of just kids, and it kickstarted a rise in adult animation. Despite that, The Simpsons was still a series meant for families, and has been just as popular with kids as it is adults. Jakks Pacific seems to understand, as in addition to their regular products, they've made "premium" action figures, aimed towards more dedicated and older fans of the series. One of the first premium figures is Mr. Burns, but not just any version of him; it's the vampire Burns from Treehouse of Horror IV. Excellent!
The packaging is a little different from the regular releases, as while it still has the same cast of characters background and pictures of the figure on the...[

Homer (Donuts)Simpsons (Jakks Pacific) - Basic Series

RMaster007Since last month, Jakks Pacific's new Simpsons line has been trickling into various of their usual retailers, namely Target and Walmart. They haven't been super abundant for me, and I suspect the aisles have been picked over by the time I get there, but I've been able to find almost everything out so far. The first wave of their 5" figures is part of the initial offerings, and with it comes some good variety.
Once again, Homer is the key character in the debut wave, but I consider the sculpt in this scale to be a bit weaker than the smaller version. My reason being that the top of his head is a bit bulbous and misshapen. It looks fine from the sides, profile view, and the back, but from the front, he looks quite off. Comparing him to the smaller version, the head on that is about as...[

RMaster007At the start of the 21st century, Playmates put out their best line that wasn't Ninja Turtles: Simpsons. The main gimmick of said line was that the figures could be plugged into playsets to spout lines from the show, and said feature was hit or miss at times, especially in its later years. Despite that, both the figures and sets looked fantastic, and now we have somewhat of a successor in Jakks Pacific. They're putting out figures in the same scale as Playmates, but with no talking feature. We have gotten a playset, however, but scaled to go with the smaller figures. Unsurprisingly, it's the Simpson residence.
I've already discussed the packaging with the 2.5" figures, and the box for the set is more of the same, but windowless. You still get some good photos of the set, showing off all...[
