Unicron with Deadend Transformers - Armada (Hasbro) - Unicron Assortment Rated 4.00 stars by somebody1 What can any Transformer fan say to Unicron finally being made. This figure was a reason to be happy and sad. Happy because it was nearly 20 years overdue but sad because of the features. Standing at about 18 inches tall he is a massive figure that dwarves most Generation 1 figures. The clear plastic parts are what got me as was the lack of articulation that was later fixed in Cybertron's Primus. The figure is top heavy, mine wanting to tip over in any given direction, and prone to having his chest pop open due to a missile missfire. The clear plastic and flashing lights were more gimmick than anything when people would have bought the figure anyways due to the character himself. The worst injustice to this figure is the fact he has no butt in planet mode. It is like they left him...[See More]
After all the years since passed since the original movie I guess I credit them with trying but sometimes toys are best left to the imagination.
Sideways Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Hasbro) - Deluxe Class Rated 3.50 stars by somebody1 One of the first Decepticon cars I've seen in the new movie line he isn't really much to write home about. His design is a generic sports care design that would easily blend in on a busy street. The articulation is about average as is the sculpting of his head. What I found disturbing is he's the same generic silver as Sideswipe. I'm not sure why but like most of the new line he suffers from a case of being very bland and begs for a paintjob if not a customization. The lack of weapons also bothers me it seems like every Transformer these days has integrated weapons and the days of guns that are handheld are long behind us. The good side is the quality of the mold is good. Very little flash, and no swirls in the plastic from poor blending of colors during the injection molding process. The...[See More]
Sideswipe Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Hasbro) - Deluxe Class Rated 4.00 stars by somebody1 So far one of 2 well known Generation 1 characters to be reintroduced in the new movie. He is a the prototype of the new Corvette Stingray. I'm actually fairly happy with this figure as the head is a much better sculpt that what they have been giving us. Sadly like most of the movie figures his hands aren't that impressive and weapons are next to non-existant with the only ones you get is a lame sword build into his arm. Missing is the shoulder mounted missiles of his G1 self and the flashy red paintjob has been replaced by the standard GM Silver they love to use. The articulation is fair although I still prefer the articulation from the Universe figures more. A nice touch is the "tinted" blue windows set up in the traditional stingray arrangement. Much like Bumblebee in the first movie...[See More]
My only gripe is the feet. hes very difficult ot pose into any action poses. There is a red version coming thats called Swerve, the sad part is the head look more like G1 Sideswipes did.
lol. That is the dumbest thing they could ahve done. I''m going to make a cast of a g1 or g2 sideswipe and make my own. I might pick up Swerve eventually. I''d rather have a G1 style that I''m happy with than anything else.
Ransack Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Hasbro) - Scout Class Rated 5.00 stars by somebody1 I have to admit I was shocked to see a World War One biplane among all the other high tech vehicles in the toy line. He's modeled, pretty accurately, on the Fokker D III. This plane was used by the Red Baron. The articulation is pretty good as is the paintjob with the exception of the head for some reason which seems to be a bit muddied with the silver and red paints. I especially like the fact that his weapons are premounted on his forearms and that he has actual weapons where so much of the line seems to have ignored the need for guns. One gripe I have is that the lower wings don't fit as seemlessly as I think they could have having seen the tolerances on the other figures. He reminds me of a Decepticon Kup. His head sculpt is basic, slightly skull-like, with the plane's engine sitting...[See More]
