77
How are the Checklists Organized?
The checklists are organized by the following groupings below. Each grouping will show their parent and child relationships, with a description in parentheses stating whether multiple relationships are allowed.

Universes

Parents:
None

Children:
Series (multiple), Character Profiles (multiple)

  • The universe is the top level grouping when browsing the Checklists.

  • It's most important function is to group all the similar series together, so they can easily be found browsing the Checklists. For example, the hundreds of different Star Wars series would all be grouped under Star Wars.

  • The universe name is usually derived from the series name that is found directly on the package.

  • Sometimes a series might be known by multiple names, such as He-Man and Masters of the Universe. In cases like this, there may be a universe in the Checklists with both names to make searching easier.

  • The universe is the first item listed in the navigation bar when browsing the Checklists.

  • Universes are not used in the Collections or Wishlists, or it would give the appearance of duplicates.

    Series

    Parents:
Universes (multiple), Manufacturers (single), Genres (multiple), Decades (single)

    Children:
Subseries (multiple)

    • The series name should represent exactly what is found on the packaging.

    • A series can have only one manufacturer, so if multiple manufactures product figures for a toy line, each manufacturer would have their own series, which means a separate checklist.

    • A series usually belongs to one or two universes. It usually does not belong to several.

    • There are rare examples where a toy series is very generic and doesn't have a name, for example maybe it's Baseball Players. These might be found under a generic universe named Baseball so they can still be located browsing the Checklists. This Baseball universe would only hold that generic series. All the other Baseball related series could still be found in a more applicable Baseball genre.

      Subseries

      Parents:
Series (single)

      Children:
Figures (multiple)

      • This is simply a sub-grouping of a series to better organize them. The subseries name is usually derived from the packaging if it is specified, such as Series 1 or Wave 6.

      • If no Subseries is specified, all the figures belong to a default Basic Series.

        Figures

        Parents:
Subseries (single)

        Children:
None

        • The term figure is derived from action figure, which was the original focus of Figure Realm. As the scope of the checklists has grown, figure is a very loose definition that represents any item in the Checklists.

        • A figure should only be listed once in the Checklists.

        • Custom made or altered figures are not included in the Checklists. The figures must have been generally available for sell to the public.

        • Figures produced with variations, such as chase figures, different paint schemes or figures packaged with different accessories, should be listed as separate items in the Checklists.

        • Package variations of the same figure are not generally listed separately in the Checklists. There might be a few exceptions to this rule for highly valuable or collectible differences.

          Genres

          Children:
Series (multiple)

          • Genres are a broad grouping that describe the theme of the series.
