This is basically a NECA Engineer in Pressure Suit repaint. The basic figure from the factory is very white and plain. I wanted my version to look more movie accurate. I painted his suit by starting with a midnight base (very dark blue, almost black), then dry brushing with a porcelain blue (powder blue), then washing it with metallic yellow green, followed by a dark metallic gunmetal grey wash, finished off with a dry brush of porcelain blue mixed with pearl white. Finished it off by using the reference photos to see what areas to use a black wash on, such as the center of his chest, the circles, shoulders, etc... The face and hands were painted with a really light purple, almost white, and then washed over with a rose pink color around the features of his face, cheek bones, eye sockets, lips, etc...then took the light purple and dry brushed over the rose and blended it in, giving it that realistic feel. Did the same thing on the hands. The sculpt is awesome and you can't appreciate it unless you paint it up better than NECA's version. I also applied a layer of super glue on the top of the neck to prevent the head from rubbing the paint off, since his joints are very tight.

Thanks a lot. This guy was pretty fun to paint actually. Be sure to check out my others, you might see something you like there too. As far as getting your skills up, it took me a while, it doesn't happen over night, just keep practicing.

Excellent paint application. It's different from everyone else's Engineers.

Thanks man. I used most of the close up photos of Ian in the suit, and I think it's pretty close to the real suit, with a few subtle differences. I didn't want to have to use a gloss coat on it because the gloss takes away from the details of the figure. I wanted the greens around the ridges and cracks of the sculpt to show, just like they do on the real suit... I used metallic dry brushes to give it that sheen / shine without clear coating it and ruining the details.

Terrific weathering effect, looks like real distressed metal.

Thanks a lot. There are 3 different versions of the suit in the film... the first one is more of an all white color when they first open his sleep chamber capsule. The second one is more of a blueish grey cloudy transparent color. The third one is very dark and more metallic looking. I tried to get it in between the second and third.
