This was actually the figure that started this strange customizing journey. Wanted to have a proper Phil Urich forever and didn't like the Paraplegic Hobgoblin BAF from a while ago (not to mention the character assasination it constituted). He could do with some retouching and tweaking but he stands as a proud trophy to the first completed custom, and one which drew nothing but Ire towards Hasbro because it would be fairly easy to make one out of the inventory of re used parts they already have. Tried sticking to the Scott MCdaniel's design as much as possible too. If you want the synopsis on the character scroll down. Here's the recipee: -The costume had ingrained stripes, so after much searching found a ML Scorpion which had the added bonus of having a sweet looking if almost non functional chest diaphragm joint. -The goblin head came from a crime commited against the most excellent toybiz hobgoblin, and the ears were sliced from the also toybiz Ramos inspired Green Goblin. -The alternate Phil Urich heads are modified cartoon Morph ones with erased mascara, and the jaws were cut off because Phil was a skinny dude when not on goblin mask activated steroids. -The hands and wristbands came from that goofy Morbius with the pink cape and the BDSM outfit (deadpool also has them). -The hood was taken from a Demogoblin head BAF piece, and as sadly broken by inexperience but it has also made it easier to take out from the head after heating. -The bands in his arms are actually the thigh bands from Maria Hill/Quake. -His Boot and hand cuffs, the tip of his shoes as well as the bands in his calves are done in green stuff. -The Glider was taken from a Toybiz Green Goblin which was perfect because Phil's glider was much bigger and bulkier than the usual bat gliders. It has a shoddy looking mask with glow in the dark eyes made from green stuff that one can easily take out. -The Pumpkin bomb also came out from the eviscerated Toybiz hobgoblin and was painted with glow in the dark and UV reactive paint. -The Belt was from the Marvel Legends Vulcan with a green stuffed buckle. -Satchels are functional, can store a few bombs each, and are made from pleather. -The plastic part of the cape with the jagged peakes was taken from a McFarlane Black Lantern Batman -The cloth cape is wired but they are very weak For those of you who don't know this version of the Green Goblin: back in the good ole edgy nineties. Marvel and DC were trying new things and the McFarlane, Lee & Liefeld aesthetic was everywhere-even in your jeans. Tom Defalco started a series involving the new green goblin as a sort of goofy good guy who was basically a gen X peter Parker. He would get his strenght and reflexes from being doused in goblin serum which would be activated by his high tech mask designed by the late Harry Osborn. The series lasted only 13 issues and the character faded into obscurity (besides showing up in the spidergirl alternate timeline), he was unceremoniously brought back for the loners series to play a jealous twist antagonist and faded once more into obscurity until he was brought back and turned into the greaser badboy anti peter parker as the new Hobgoblin. ![]() |
