Under the ring name Mabel, Nelson debuted in the WWF in March of 1993, along with his stable mates Mo and Oscar as Men on a Mission, 3 men who were trying to make a change in inner city neighborhoods. The team had a notable feud with the tag team champions the Quebecers, winning the belts from them for 2 days before losing them back. Mabel began to focus on his solo career in 1994, and had a rivalry with Jeff Jarrett over which music style was better Country or Rap.

In March of 1995, Mabel and Mo lost a match against the WWF tag team champions the Smoking Guns. After the match, Mabel and Mo assaulted the Guns. The next week Mabel and Mo called out the Guns to apologize, but then instead beat down the Guns and Oscar. Mabel and Mo continued to use the name Men on a Mission, but no longer showed any interest in inner city neighborhoods. Mabel entered and won the 1995 King of the Ring Tournament, defeating Savio Vega in the tournament final, and began being referred to as King Mabel. As King of the Ring, Mabel received a title shot against the WWF champion Diesel at Summerslam. Mabel lost the match, which would turn out to be his only PPV main event. Following his feud with Diesel, Mabel began a rivalry with the Undertaker that culminated in a casket match at In Your House 5, which Mabel lost. F Shortly after this match Mabel left the WWF.

After 3 years, on January 24, 1999 Mabel made his return to the WWF as a participant in the 1999 Royal Rumble. During the match the Undertaker, The Acolytes, and Mideon entered the ring and proceeded to kidnap Mabel. The next night on Raw, Mabel is seen now as a member of the Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness and begins using the name Viscera.
