Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) Action Figure Reviews | | | | | CosmicCollector | 5.00 Stars | I'm reviewing the super cool Fantastic 4 gift set made in 2004 by Toybiz. It includes a 7" Thing with 30 points of articulation. He has a new head sculpt, grinding his teeth like he is ready for clobberin time! His fingers are hinged; improved over the series 2 version.
Mr. Fantastic has 38 points of articulation and comes with a lab coat and a transformed rubber ball version of Stretcho himse. . . MORE | | | Dr Nightmare | 4.90 Stars | Susan Storm seems an odd name to give someone with invisibility abilities (try saying that 10 times, fast!). The name makes her sound like she could bring down a building with only a thought, but actually she's a real sweet-heart! Well, at least the figure from the Marvel Legends Fantastic Four box set is cute. She could be a raging alcoholic for all I know, like our friend Peter Park- I mean, Ton. . . MORE |
| | | When you see this figure in the box you think of nothing but pity for poor Ben Grimm. This figure looks less ever loving and more like an abused child. From what I've seen of the House of M comics though it seems to catch the likeness quiet well. The sculpt depicts the hulking It and his stoney hide meticulously. Articulation is very good. The only point it is missing in a torso joint that ma . . . MOREAuthor: VariablePenguin, View: Here | | | | | CosmicCollector | 4.50 Stars | This 7 figure set was highly anticipated. Every figure in this set has their very own themed display base that is uniquely designed. A special poster book is included with tons of photos of Spidey and his foes. This is the biggest set brought out by Toy Biz with a power grid for each character printed on it.
Venom has 40 points of articulation and is in his black and white costume with blue an. . . MORE | | | Chancellor | 4.00 Stars | Although the entire set looks amazing, I was only able to fine a loose Spider-Man from this set, and let me tell you I am glad I did! This, and maybe the Urban Legends Box Set Spidey are my favorites. The Sinister Six Spider-man has 40 points of articulation, including all four fingers, which is awesome! His sculpting is really good, except his shoulders are a little on the big side. Now, I've see. . . MORE |
| | | | | Dr Nightmare | 5.00 Stars | I suspected Toy Biz would do with Wolverine what Kenner did with Batman, and they did. Many variations of Wolvie have been made, like the brown-suit and un-masked versions, but since these are Marvel Legend-type figures, people will shell out the cash for every single one. The good thing is that the variations are all worth buying because they all represent Wolverine as he was and is in different . . . MORE | | | Dr Nightmare | 3.50 Stars | Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than Mystique, I stumble across this. Rogue is the most beautiful young southern bell in the country and Toy Biz went ahead and destroyed that image with this...THING. How hard is it to sculpt a pretty face? How hard can it possibly be to look at a lady's face and sculpt it properly? Look at any other Marvel Legend and the face sculpt is either spot-on. . . MORE |
| | | | | Dr Nightmare | 4.00 Stars | Seems like Marvel wanted to make a new team of Avengers to relate more to today's youth (in hopes of selling more comics maybe?) so they made young clones of the existing Avengers, gave them similar suits, and called them Young Avengers. So I guess now instead of everyone assembling in The Mansion, everyone assembles in Iron Lad's basement while his mom goes out to buy some milk.
Iron Lad (Real. . . MORE | | | Dr Nightmare | 5.00 Stars | When are kids going to learn that messing around with gamma radiation is NOT a smart thing to do! If you DON'T want to be horribly disfigured then listen to your parents and DON'T go near the barrels of glowing slime! Dancing around a leaky particle accelerator is also not smart! Getting hit with plutonium isn't smart either! Of course, you might get lucky and turn green and hulk out like...the Hu. . . MORE | | | Dr Nightmare | 4.90 Stars | Hmmm...he dresses like the U.S. flag and carries a shield...who ever could this young Avenger be emulating? Who could possibly be this Avenger's hero and idol? The Hulk!? Wasp!? Superman of course! Ooops, wrong universe.
Young Patriot rises up like the star-spangled banner at a full 6.2 inches tall. Y'know, for heroes who are supposed to be kids, these guys are as tall, and even taller than the. . . MORE | | | Dr Nightmare | 5.00 Stars | Our Asguardian stands heroically, with satchel and stick in hand, at 6 inches tall. Even though these Young Avengers are as tall, and sometimes even taller, than the much older heroes, these kids somehow manage to still look like kids! The leaner muscle, lithe frames, and well-sculpted faces come together well and get the job done right, but let's get back to the stick. It's more of a staff, but i. . . MORE |
| | | Captain America vs Red Skull Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Face Off Sets - Series 1 Total Reviews: 2 Average Rating: 4.25 Stars |
| | Dr Nightmare | 4.00 Stars | The Red Skull! The mere mention of this psychopathic Nazi-madman is enough to send shivers down even Great Hitler's spine. His head is red, emaciated, cracked, and bony, looking like an actual skull (whether it's just the mask he wears or the result of being exposed to his Dust of Death , I don't know). I must say, for someone who supposedly is able to beat Captain America to a pulp, this guy does. . . MORE | | | Dr Nightmare | 4.50 Stars | Yay, another Captain America. At least he's been kept down to only 4 Marvel Legends version: Series 1, Ultimate, Classic variant, and the Face-Off version. This newest Face-Off Cap is the best I've seen so far. He has the same body as the Ultimate Cap but with a much better original head-sculpt, more vibrant colors, and his original suit.
This Cap stands in at about 6.2 inches of stupendifurous. . . MORE |
| | | | | Dr Nightmare | 4.90 Stars | Glee overtakes a Marvel Legends collector's body when he hears about more villains being made, and when it's someone as large as The Kingpin, that happiness only grows, and grows, and grows like a bubble of joy, until it's burst by someone like that ugly Lady Deathstrike or the upcoming BAF Blob :( (and on that note, Kingpin makes an excellent base for a Blob custom, sacrifices must be made, so ge. . . MORE | | | Dr Nightmare | 3.50 Stars | A few Daredevil figures have been made since the Marvel Legends line came out, and this Face-Off version seems the best, but that's not saying much :(
The Blind Devil stands about 6 1/4 inches tall, which is okay, but some people are inevitably going to complain "Why is he taller than everyone else!?". The head-sculpt is pretty good, Murdoc has a smirk on his face, but the little dimple on his . . . MORE |
| | | | | Dr Nightmare | 4.00 Stars | There are hundreds of Iron Man suits, many of them outrageously designed, but I still like the simple suit he has for the Face-Off series. It's the only suit that looked like something a guy could actually wear without being laughed at.
Tony stands 6 inches tall, which is in-scale with other ML figures, but maybe he should have been a little bit taller? 6.25 maybe? I mean, he is wearing a robot. . . MORE | | | Dr Nightmare | 3.00 Stars | Iron Man has to have the worst villains EVER. A guy with a bunch of rings that shoot stuff? Come on! Iron Man is a frikkin' tank that can fly! A little ring isn't going to do anything to him! If his enemies were the Green Lantern Corps, then you'd have a story!
I can't give an exact estimate on Mandarin's size (because I scrapped him for parts before I reviewed him) but let's say around 6 inche. . . MORE |
| | | I am on a hunt for every Giant Man series. The first figure I got was the Sentry, which I hated, because it doesn't look at all like the comic book version. Anyways, I thought this Ant Man was pretty freakin' sweet. The Helmet is removable, his paint job is fine, I really like his left hand, my favorite that ML has put out, and the little shrink spray emitters on his belt were a good addition too. . . . MOREAuthor: Chancellor, View: Here | | | A question for you folks who paid over 20 dollars online for Kitty, did you think it was worth it? When I first saw her released, she looked as big as the other 6-inch Marvel Legends ladies. I guessed she's 20-something years-old now so it makes sense that she should be 6-inches, but she's actually shorter than that, by about a quarter-inch. Is she short in the comics or is this Kitty from a few y . . . MOREAuthor: Dr Nightmare, View: Here | |
